Outside time

Our peach tree in the back yard

Things are blooming in Texas. Which means its time to spend time outside before the deathly heat of summer hits us. We have had some really great weather on and off for the last month or so. Even though it creates allergy problems we can no resist spending time outside.

All together now

We bought this fire pit for thanksgiving but the weather wasn't cooperative that day. Since then the weather has been fickle but we finally had a night where we roasted marshmallows and enjoyed the warmth of the flames.

Even Maggie liked it

Just a day where we stopped by this little stream to say hi to the donkeys and cows.

These two...

I have also been trying to get some yard work done. Pruning, trimming, mowing, raking and the like. Since we moved in I have hated these spiral trees. They are  pretty but they made the porch feel very claustrophobic. Finally we chopped them down.  Hallelujah!

Of course this lazy mutt has to bask in the rays of the sun.

We have also been riding bikes in the front while Brigham learns to ride. Which he has accomplished.

Hyrum is such a good little guy and loves to watch his brother and sisters.

The last days of Summer 2015

Summer 2015 has officially come to an end. The kids have been back to school for about a week and I cannot believe it. The summer literally whizzed by. I remember thinking, what in the world are we going to do this summer, and now its over.

We tried to take advantage of the pool and Seth being home on the last few Saturdays. Brigham finally is swimming without his floaty.  He managed to learn to float on his back and swim these last few weeks. He needs more practice for sure but he did it!

Emily wanting to learn too.

Cute dude.

The kids went to another summer camp learning about the rain forest. They all had a good time and it was nice that they were able to go together.

Of course there was lots of down time and Abby succeeded in pestering the dog most of it.

There were plenty of supplies bought and trying on of new back packs and uniforms.

Seth's Uncle Doug and family passed through town one night and stayed with us. Their kids are roughly the same age as ours and get along pretty well.  Herding cats. Thats what these picture are.

There were plenty of days too where Briggs and Nems would randomly fall asleep from exhaustion. It was Emily's turn. What a comfortable way to sleep...?
I also found out that they spent some time taking selfies on my phone. Even though I had to delete hundreds of photos these tow were to cute and funny to pass up.

Goodbye summer see you next year...

Snow Days

Just before spring break we had several snow days! Some were more ice days than snow days but we had a day or two with beautiful fluffy snow.  The kids ended up missing 3 and a half days of school. Some if which will have to made up at the end of the year. Yuck! We tried to get out and play every day. Inevitably, due to our lack of good cold weather gear, Emily would fall or get snow in her mittens or whatever and cave. But they all had a grand time!

Of all those who ventured outside. Maggie was the biggest wimp. She would only stay out there 10 minutes or so.
A little indicator of the show

I was pretty impressed by Abby's snow angel

They liked making snow towers

Handsome Boy, He could have stayed all day out there!

Finally dads home to help build a snow man!!!!(mom had hurt her back and was out of commission)

Pretty impressive

I cant believe how big they were able to make it! Making snow balls on the trampoline apparently was very helpful

That face

Yep, that's my girl
