Yesterday, it finally happened. I have had a fear for some time now of this exact event and now it has come to fruition. Just as I laid Brigham down I heard a loud crash in Abby's room and I knew exactly what I was going to find. I ran as fast as I could, and in our apartment that took all of a second and a half to reach her, to find her laying on her back with the entire dresser on top of her. The picture was awful, she was screaming and there were drawers, clothes, diapers, and of course the whole dresser lying atop her. Thus, my first reaction was to throw the dresser off her. Thankfully it isn't that heavy but at that moment I probably could have lifted a car off her, well maybe a mini cooper :) I grabbed her and she was screaming and crying but amidst that, she was very concerned about her hat that had fallen off in the incident. Thus I knew she wasn't too injured. I am not sure exactly what happened but what I gathered was she was trying to get her other hat off the top and was climbing up the dresser to reach it. I suppose that is why they have those wall latches. Her injuries are minor, some scratches and and bumps on her face and collar bone and various bruises elsewhere so I consider myself lucky. It could have been a lot worse. Now Abby keeps saying " dresser fell on her." Unfortunately, while throwing the dresser off I took a few chunks out of the wall, just what we need to fix before we move in a few weeks.
To top it all off today while feeding Brigham I hear her whining. Thus I got up to investigate. To my great surprise (well not really, I mean it is Abby) she is standing underneath the curtains which are no longer on the wall with the wall mount and the accompanying screws next to her. Whether she pulled it off or it fell, is still undecided however Abby is pleading the fifth.
