Our Baby is 1!

Where has the time gone? I feel like it was just yesterday that we were trying to decide on names for our baby and now that baby Briggs turned one. His birthday was on the 11Th and we celebrated it on the 12Th with lots of family and a few friends. We ate, had presents and then of course there was cake. As you can see in the many following pictures.

Briggsy at age one:

  1. Dances when he hears music, it is so cute.
  2. He can crawl really fast.
  3. He can walk around furniture,
  4. and for periods of time stand all by himself.
  5. He tries really hard to walk and it will not be long before he is whizzing around.
  6. He eats non-stop.
  7. He loves applesauce, bananas, and cheese.
  8. He screams constantly, mostly because he wants more food, or held.
  9. He will fold his arms when its time for prayer.
  10. Super smart. He knows how to take a cord and try and plug it in the wall.
  11. He mimics everything. Like brushing your hair or Abby climbing and jumping.
  12. He has been pretty sickly this last year being afflicted with but not limited to: Pink eye (in both eyes), Bronchulitis, pneumonia, has been in the ER, sent for chest x-rays twice, acid reflux, vomiting spells, allergies, sever diaper rash, eczema and I am sure there are more.
  13. He is very mischievous
  14. He has me wrapped around his little fat fingers.
  15. He is a mommas boy and I hate to say it but, I love it!
  16. He is a little brick, since he always wants held, I either have a back ache or a headache since he screams until he is picked up.
  17. He just recently started sleeping through the night.
  18. He likes to have his teeth brushed and says awww when I get the stuff out.
  19. Speaking of teeth he has 6 but there are several trying to poke through right now.
  20. He stopped nursing as of about a week and a half ago.
  21. He hates milk and dislikes yogurt. Like I said he loves cheese.
  22. Abby can make Briggs laugh so easily and he loves her.
  23. Briggsy is getting much more vocal and he has a strong set of lungs.
  24. He loves to take baths and will stick his face in the water trying to mimic Abby.
  25. I think 95% of the time we went to the pool this summer he fell asleep in it.
  26. He brings so much joy and laughter to our family.
  27. He is a handsome little devil.
  28. Unlike his sister he loves to snuggle at this age, I am sure that will change eventually.
  29. He throws things all the time. Whether its food or toys you never know what will come flying your way.
  30. Like his sister he is becoming a biter and has bitten Seth, Abby and myself, leaving teeth marks and sometimes bruises.
  31. I know I can say so much more, he has is 1 year check up in a few days so I will update his stats later. But is suffices me to say that I love the little squirt and he has been a happy surprise to our family.

Preschool Pick Up

On day one of preschool I walk into the room and say;

" Hey Abby how are you" and she then looks at me and says,
"mom, why did you leave me here?"

Overall I am told she did really well, there were no problems. So I should be happy. I had to work yesterday and therefore didn't get to take Abby to school. Grandma did and it seems there was a little less drama on the drop off. I still need to find out how the day went.....

The joys of motherhood.

Day 1 of Preschool

Today was Abigail's first day of preschool. We have been so excited for this. She couldn't wait and she desperately needs it. We prepared her as much as possible and went to meet the teacher last week. We have been talking non-stop of how fun it will be and so Abby could hardly sleep last night. She crawled into bed with me about 2 am and then was up for good about 645am. But getting ready turned out to be a challenge, she was being a little pill. I couldn't get her to eat breakfast and she kept asking me if I would stay with her at school. We were a little out of sorts because its been raining cats and dogs here so I had to dig through clothes to find pants. Which, I now know I only have one pair that fit her. We had to find her rain coat (thanks Aunt Codee it was a life saver today) and the umbrella. So we left and found out some of the roads were closed due to the rain, so we were running late. But we made it. With this preschool you have to take them inside and actually sign them in and out so I had to get Briggs, Abby and myself out and try not to get wet. Unsuccessful. But, because of the rain and road closures Abby's teacher wasn't there yet and she did not like that. She clung to me for dear life. When I tried to leave she was screaming and kicking the lady who was in there and I felt horrible. So I stood in the hall at a loss for what to do. Then a friend of mine was dropping her daughter off and told me to just leave, Abby would be fine. I needed to hear that. So I went to my car and sat waiting for the phone call to say "Lady, your daughter is crazy please come pick her up" but the only phone call I got was from my friend. She said when she walked by Abby was doing fine and had calmed down, and she went on reassuring me. I was so thankful for that because I was really worried. So now, she is there and we can only wait and see how the day goes.

How does she do it?

Yet again I have discovered Abby asleep in weird places. I know you must think "that girl can sleep anywhere?" And I must admit it does seem that way. But, the truth is that she never sleeps. She gets up at all hours of the night and plays. Thus when she does fall asleep she ends up somewhere besides her bed.
Isn't she a good mom, she even put her babies in the closet with her.

Tucked in her closet between her toys and dresser

Asleep upside down in the rocker.
