March of Dimes

Its that time of year again folks...for the past three years I have walked in the March of Dimes March for Babies. It is an organization dedicated to premature babies. I would appreciate any donations for the cause.

Having personal experience by being a mother of a premature baby makes this walk even more important to me. My daughter was lucky to have had the equipment and medicine necessary to keep her alive. It is because of fundraisers like these that she and thousands others like her are alive and healthy today.

I know times are hard for everyone right now. I hate to ask for money because we have been so blessed by so many this year given our family circumstances. However, I wouldnt want that to deprive this charity from getting its needed funding.

Even a dollar helps...$250 is the goal but surpassing it is even better.

Tooth fairy

Abigail's preschool had a local dentist and the tooth fairy come to talk about dental heath. She loved it. She got a new tooth brush, which she wanted to use immediately, and talked a lot about brushing her teeth. Pretty much anywhere she talked about she said, you can brush your teeth there. Again Thanks to another parent here are a few pictures.

Valentines Day

Abby had preschool on Valentines day and she was so excited to give her friends their Valentines. Thanks to another parent I got a few pictures of Abby at her party. Little grown up girl. We didn't do much the day of, just a normal day. However the night before my Dad and Cindy watched the kids so Seth and I could go to dinner. We weren't gone long (how can you be when your nursing) but it was nice to have some time alone together.

Abigail's Glasses

Several months ago at Abby's well child visit her doctor suggested I take her to an pediatric eye doctor. She thought perhaps Abby had a slight "lazy eye" for lack of a better term. I never really thought much about it because I never noticed anything and those Docs are pricey.
With changes in our insurance I decided to go ahead and just see if there was anything to it. What could it hurt. I was very impressed at how well Abby did, she was a real trooper. The doctor said there were a few inconsistencies with her visual tests, but that's common with kids her age. He did say that he saw a slight delay in her eye movement that can appear as a "lazy eye" and he would like to dilate her eyes  to confirm.

They dilated her eyes, ran more tests and low and behold, her visual tests were backed up by the dilation and she is farsighted. I feel so bad. The doctor said her eyes were working a lot harder than her peers to try and compensate. He prescribed her glasses that she has to wear all the time, and have regular visits.  I guess a child's eyes are not fully developed until they are 8 years old and with proper treatment now there is a possibility when her eyes are mature she wont need glasses. Only time will tell.

It was so funny when we went to pick out the frames; she saw some glasses that she thought looked like her grandpas (which they didn't at all) and wanted those. She kept insisting her glasses looked like grandpas.  I saw some really cute petite pink frames that I liked however, Abby did not.
As a compromise She decided she had to have these blue pair. Not my first choice but a lot better than the  "grandpa" glasses. She keeps taking them on and off but hopefully soon she will be able to keep them on consistently.

The glasses totally change the look of her face. She is so cute!

1 Month

This little lady sure has captured our hearts over the last month. We just can't keep our hands off of her. She is such a great new addition to our family! I cannot believe she is already a month old. Time sure does fly when your at an infants beck and call.
Emily has changed so much already. Its amazing what a pound or two can do. She looks so different. She has pretty blue eyes and lots of hair. Her feet are long and her toes are so cute. Just like Abby and Briggs her second toe is longer than her big toe. She loves to take her baths and have her hair washed.
When she is awake she is very alert and always checking things out. She goes on high alert any time Brigham or Abigail hold her. She senses danger :) She gets angry really easily and will scream and wail until she is pacified. She still has a hard time sleeping at night. She either wants to be on my chest on the couch or in bed with me. Nether are good solutions.

Overall she is such a little joy. She can be fussy and clingy, but that's life when you are a baby right?  Happy One month birthday!

One Month Stats:
Weight: 9lbs 12oz  70%
Height: 21 3/4 inches 75%
Head: 35 1/2 cm 13%
She had to get a shot and have another blood draw for bilirubin, not a fun day at the doc.

Girls Day

Two  Sunday's ago it was Emily's first time to church. It was a girls day as well because both Brigham and Seth were sick. So we got dressed up and headed off. Cindy gave Emily the dress she is wearing and Abby is in her new Christmas dress from Grandma which she loves. Abby was so excited to take her sister to church. What little dolls I have!

Brigham

I couldnt help but take a picture when I walked into Brigham's room and found him asleep like this. He is even cool when he sleeps. I love this kid.

Here is a video of Brigham whom found a stool and without asking dug into Abby's cake which she had left on the counter. Little stink Pot.

Cowgirl Up

Abigail had western day/petting zoo day at preschool last week. She was so excited because she remembered it from last year. She was able to ride a horse and pet the farm animals. She loved it!

Not sure who she is yelling at

Loving the barn

With her class. Of course she is the only one not looking, she is too occupied with the animals.
