Take a HIKE!

This year for memorial day we decided to do something a little different. We went hiking, or what can pass for hiking in Texas that is. It ended up being a beautiful day! It was slightly overcast in the 70's and it was so fun.

Overall we hiked 3.6miles. The kids were troopers. Emily was carried in a backpack and Abby and Briggs hiked the majority of it. There were a few times they needed carried but I was really impressed at their stamina. They were a little upset mom left the snacks in the car but at least I grabbed the water :)

We have never been to this trail and it ended up being really beautiful. It took us a few times to find the right trail, that didn't dead end, but we did it and it was a great time.

Getting started. The kids we so excited!

Emily is a little unsure of the pack...

See those giant arrows? The kids were running all around and I had them stop and take a picture. Then they ran ahead again. As we walked past the spot Seth says "look at that" there was a giant snake in that grass. It was really thick and probably about 3 feet long. Seth thought it was a water moccasin and wanted to get a better look. I thought "your crazy! lets get out of here"

Abby needed a little break too

This is what I looked at most of the time. Love those chubby little legs.

It was pretty steep

Strike a pose! Look at Abby!

This is pretty funny. A few times one of us would run ahead and jump out and scare the kids. Good times.

This is what Briggs did when we got home, fell asleep standing up. What a trooper.

Its Over...

Brigham Completed his first year of preschool! He had his end of the year program last week, which was adorable! Even though he is 3  and 1/2 he was still in the 2 year old class because of his birthday, which means two more years of preschool. He really enjoyed going twice a week and he grew and learned so much. He loved his teachers and his friends and all of the fun activities they had them do. When I asked him what his favorite activity was he said: "ummmm the helicopter, and the bike rodeo, and ummm the bounce house and the fire guys"

Here are a few moments from the program...

Field Day

The end of the school year is approaching, and with that means lots of fun and interesting things are happening.  Abigail had her field day last week, where as the name implies, they were out in the field all day playing games.  Thanks to the help of my Mother in law I was able to come and volunteer and be at the school all day. Abby was terribly excited that I was going to be there.

1-2-3 TUG

I was in charge of the tug of war station, where yes, I helped about 120 kindergartners all day long yank on a rope. There was lots of yelling involved and of course with each rotation of kids there was at least one crier. But they all survived, and I was exhausted at the end of the day. Even though I didn't get to be with Abby all day, she did come to my station twice and was near by most of the day. Not to mention we had lunch together in her class room. Good times.

Look at all those girls with abby at the head
