Ready for Church

 I cannot believe how big Hyrum is and that his Blessing day has already come and gone. Unfortunately, the pictures below are the only ones I got. When you have 8:30 church and a million things going on that's what happens. Then after church he puked on his outfit.

We are so very blessed to have the gospel in our lives that affords us special opportunities that spiritually uplift our children. This special day was the first of many ordinances to come in his life. He was also able to wear the same out fit that Brigham wore when he was blessed. Yet another special thing.

We had a good turn out with most of Seth's family there and my Sister and her soon to be family as well as a few friends. Its heartwarming to see all the men who hold the priesthood surround my babies! This time was no different.  We were a bit concerned that he would be really loud during it as he is a super noisy kid. But as he was surrounded by loving arms he gazed above and watched as Seth pronounced a blessing on his head.

I truly wish I could remember what was said. All I remember is feeling that the spirit was present. I remember thinking it was beautiful and it made me emotional. I cannot say enough how much we love this little guy and he was really good while he was blessed.

Look at  him!!! I could just eat him up! Too bad we forgot the hat that accompanied this outfit. Its rather darling. Its also sad to know this will be the last time we bless a baby of our own. I know this will be a frequent feeling with him as he will be the last to do everything.  But on days like this it was extra sad because its a bigger event in his little life!

Round 3 for Emily

Waiting to be called back

Emily has struggled with ear problems for most of her life. She has had ear infections for as long as I can remember. Thus when she was 9 moths old she had Tubes put in. For 7 months she was fine until they fell out. The doctor suggested a second set but we decided to try going to a chiropractor and using homeopathic methods for awhile. That didn't work very well and was costing quite a bit. So when she was 2 she had her second set of tubes along with her Adenoids out which you can read about HERE

Those tubes  lasted longer then the previous set. She then only had a few ear infections after they fell out which was great. However over the last several months we noticed she was not hearing as well as she should be and it really declined rapidly over a months time.

I had her hearing tested and she failed pretty badly. It was to the point where we were yelling at her all the time or having to touch her to get her attention. The ENT said that there was fluid in her ears and it was really thick and her ear drums were sucked in. Meaning she couldn't hear! He even said he has seen it before and that her hearing was worse than what he would expect. The solution of course...Tubes again!

I wasn't fond of the idea of a 3rd surgery but I didn't want her to have any speech delays either or permanent hearing loss.  After much discussion the surgery was scheduled.

This time Seth was able to come which was very helpful. Emily was seriously awesome this time around. I just told her we were going to the doctor and she was good with that. She liked exploring the waiting area before her procedure. She had her own pre-op room which was nice to have for privacy reasons. She watched some TV and they gave her some medicine to help calm her, so when the doctors came to take her she wouldn't be afraid. Just like last time she was a giant GOOF ball on the meds.

She was super giggly and she kept trying to slip off the bed. She couldn't stand up or walk like she was a little drunken sailor which she found hilarious. When they came to take her back she was completely chill and off she went. Shortly thereafter they came to take us back to her in recovery. She was asleep and slowly coming out of it. The last two times she came out of anesthesia crying and very upset. But this time she was pretty good. No tears just hungry because she wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything all day and her surgery was at noon. The doctor cleaned out all the fluid and said that her ear drums retracted back to normal as soon as the pressure was released.

We took her to her favorite place to get a grilled cheese after it was all said and done. By the evening she was back running around like a crazy person.At her follow up appointment her ears looked wonderful. She had a 30 decibel hearing improvement. We can definitely tell a difference in our day to day conversations with her.

December Happenings

This December has been so Busy!!! I feel bad because we haven't done our usual advent calendar and all the fun that goes along with it. However I do plan to do it the week of Christmas. One week is better than nothing right? Hyrum does a lot of what you see above, be cute, sleep, poop, eat and repeat!

Emily on the other hand has turned into trouble. She has always been mischievous but its gotten a little out of hand lately. She colors on everything including herself! SHE CUT HER HAIR!!!! grrr. I was so mad! Thankfully it blends pretty well but we are still finding chunks of hair strung through out the house. One day I found her in my make up applying mascara to her forehead! The list goes on...

One nice Saturday morning Brigham had a Service Learning project to preform. The entire kindergarten cleaned up two local parks. We took all the kids to help out. They were all so excited to find trash. Leave it to my kids to come running with the heaviest thing possible. "mom look at all these junky bricks we found!"

And then there is more sleeping

 Emily has been having a fun time a preschool this month as they are making all sorts of crafts. She made this cute little snowman and was very proud of it! She also wrote her letter to Santa, what little girl doesn't need a girl fox?

We have been having great weather! So I took Hyrum outside to sleep as we watched Emily play.

Then there is this!? BRIGHAM LOST HIS FIRST TOOTH!!!! It had been loose awhile and when I picked him up from school he said "mom, pull it out." So I did! It was the easiest tooth pull I have ever done. It was awesome and he was so proud.

I have started to slowly exercise again. On this particular day Emily rode 1.75 miles on that little bike. I was so proud and she barely complained!

 Then after all the sleeping eating and pooping he occasionally gets a bath and I cannot resist taking pictures of him. He is so stinking cute!

Thanksgiving 2015

This year we hosted Thanksgiving at our house for all the Whitworth clan. It was bit crazy but for the most part it turned out nice. With the kids mostly entertained with various activities it went well. The kids started by making Pilgrim masks. Nothing like a craft to keep a bunch of little girls entertained.

We had appetizers and waited for everyone to arrive. We had loads of food that was all very delicious and everyone did their part to make that happen. There was turkey, cranberry salsa, a veggie tray, stuffing, corn casserole, mashed potatoes, candied yams, green-bean casserole, rolls, frog eyed salad and lots of pies and brownies.  Not to mention this year we deep fried the Ham, yes the Ham. YUM.

Later we wanted to have a fire in the fire pit and have the kids make smores but alas we were rained out. But the kids did make turkey hats, decorated cookies, and played the Wii along with just regular cousin play.

All in all I think it was a success and a lot of fun!

Just before Thanksgiving Abby  had her 3rd Grade musical program. This year was about Dinosaurs! She was so nervous. She does not like to perform in front of people (she takes after her mother.) But she did great. She sang all the songs and did all the motions. It was a cute program. Im pretty sure this is the first one Seth was actually able to attend since Preschool.
