Brighams Birthday

Brigham's second Birthday was last Sunday. I cannot believe he is already 2 years old! He has gotten so big and so handsome. Almost every time we are out we get stopped by someone complimenting him. In fact, it happened today at the grocery store. This guy is a charmer and he knows how to work it.

We had his party at Russ and Cheri's house with a ton of family and a few friends. We had hamburger's and hot dogs, opened presents and then feasted on cupcakes. It was a good time and Brigham sure enjoyed the attention. This year he actually understood the presents and went right to work. I was surprised how long he lasted. He kept going until the very last one.

Unfortunately the majority of the pictures were blurry, so there aren't many that are good.

A few things about Brigham at age TWO:
1. He loves to read "Hop on Pop" we read it before nap and again before bed.
2. Of course while doing that he has to have his blanket, and his plug.
3. He thankfully still likes to snuggle.
4. He never stops eating.
5. He loves to play with his toys
6. Most often before bed he request a baby and likes to sleep with it.
7. He can speak really well. Some of his words include....Snack, cereal, Milk, Spoon, Fork, Bowl, Plate, Park, Walk, Hold, No, kiss, Hop, Big Truck, car, tickle, stop, go, stinky, mom, dad, sister, and the list goes on.
8. He is a back seat driver. If we are stopped he will yell, "Go Mom" until we do.
9. He is really coordinated when it comes to sports. He can throw and kick really well.
10. Today he tried to talk me into letting him stay at school with Abby. He would say "me stay school"
11. Often he gets complimented on his long eyelashes
12. When he takes his diaper off to get in the bath 95% of the time he tries to run off and pee on the floor.
13. He likes to sit on the toilet and try to use it.
14. Within the last few months he has discovered throwing tantrums.
15. He is really good at saying sorry.
16. He loves to wrestle and tickle Abby.
17. He adores Seth
18. This summer he really discovered swimming and loves to go to the pool.
19. He still struggles with his breathing, by now I will call it asthma.
20. He loves to dance.
21. He loves to sing.
22. He will say the prayer for dinner.
23. He does not like getting his teeth brushed.
24. He does not like wearing shoes.
25. He is very smart.
26. Every morning when he wakes up the first thing he says is either cereal or pancakes.
27. He loves going to Grandmas and Grandpas as well as Papa and Nana's
28. On the Whitworth side he is the only boy of all the cousins.
29. He loves helping to do the laundry or the dishes.
30. What can I say, we love this kid and think the world of him!

I tried to make Briggs his own cake and lets just say it didn't work out. So he at cupcakes just like the rest of us.

Photo Shoot

Since Brigham had his second Birthday I decided it would be nice to have some good pictures of him at this stage of his life. My friend Patty spent the morning with us taking pictures. For a somewhat impromptu thing, they really turned out well. I didn't plan at all and for the most part I was really happy with them. Here are what I think are the best of the bunch.I cannot believe how old my kids are getting. Thanks again Patty :) Pictures of the Birthday party are forthcoming.

My little Dolphin

Abby had her first EVER soccer game this past Saturday. Unfortunately Seth had school and I was on my death bed so I feel bad there wasn't more support there. On the bright side, Grandma and Grandpa came so at least they were able to give Abby some cheering on. It was interesting to say the least.
It was hot and the kids were a little taken aback since there were so many people with so many games going one. One time during the game Abby ran off the field refusing to go back because there was grass on her socks. Goof. Another time, again during the game she ran off the field straight to me telling me to feel how hard her heart was beating. Ahhhh love kids. At least she wasn't the only one. One little girl ran off exclaiming that "this game is scary." By the time the 4th quarter rolled around Abby was done. She refused to go back in and was a little stinker. I didn't have the energy to make her do it either. So hopefully the next time she will stay on the field and sit on the bench. Here's hoping.

Aquarium

Before the black death hit me, I was able to take the kids to the new aquarium in grapevine. I went with my mother in law Cheri and my Sister in law, Natalie and her 3 kids. It was quite the adventure. Abby and Briggs wanted to see everything all at once and kept running from exhibit to exhibit. It was a fun and exhausting day. Brigham was scared to death of walking on the floors made of glass. It was rather funny. They especially loved touching the various creatures at the very end. Now Abby and Briggs play aquarium in the bath tub, pulling toys up from under the water and petting them. Too cute! Thanks Cheri for a great day.
Abby out Front
It took Abby a long time to get he courage to stand up in this thing. Briggs never did.
I thought this turned out pretty cool.

Sick of being Sick!

This is a long blog about me being sick...don't feel bad if you do not read it. Its just something I wanted to remember(who knows why).

Today is the first time I have been on the computer in a week. I couldn't even muster enough energy to sit here and do a darn thing. Last Thursday night I started with a cough and the next morning I woke up feeling pretty crummy. Thankfully my mother in law had taken Abby over night so I only had to take care of Briggs. Who, when he is by himself, is rather easily entertained and not to hard to take care of. But as the day wore on the more horrible I began to feel. Abby had soccer practice Friday night and I didn't quite know how I was going to manage Briggs out in the heat with Abby, literally. Seth had school this weekend only complicating matters. Thankfully, when Cheri dropped Abby off she offered to take Briggs for the night which was a great relief. One at a time. That's all I could take. I took Abby to practice which took every ounce of energy I had. I barely made it to the car without stopping for a rest. It was painful. I had just gotten Abby into the shower when Seth came home from school early and, no joke, I almost started to cry. I was exhausted!

Saturday morning Abby had her first soccer game ever. Which I will post about later. But, I was pretty much a zombie. I walked like a 100 year old and felt like one too. Thankfully again Cheri and Russ came which helped a lot and put the kids down for a nap. I turned on a movie for Abby and as Briggs slept I tried to as well. Which is difficult when you wake up gasping for air dripping with sweat. I was sure I wasn't going to make it until Seth came home from school. I was going from chills to sweats all the time and I had little ability to move. Thankfully he was able to head home early and take care of me and the kids. Again, tear.

Later that day I headed to the Doc who diagnosed me with Bronchitis, with a lot of fluid in both ears. I had loss of appetite/fever/chills/aches/difficulty breathing etc. They kept asking me if I had asthma, which I do not. But due to the difficulty I was having breathing and the extreme effort it took to walk because of the exhaustion I am sure it sounded like it. They gave me some antibiotics and sent me on my way. I thought for sure once those were in my system I would be good in 1-2 days. Usually this is the case. Not this time.

Sunday is a blur, I spent the better part of it asleep or trying not to die. That's how I spent most nights too. Then Monday I woke up and immediately called my OB to notify them what was going on and to see if there was anything else I should be taking. They gave me a list of all the over the counter things I should also take and I began treatment with those immediately. Thankfully my sister had Monday off so she came and hung out, then while Briggs was asleep she took Abby to the movies so I could get some rest too. Very helpful!

Yet, Tuesday rolls around and I still feel like death. I had a friend come and take Abby for the day which was a huge help!!!At this point since Thursday night I am pretty sure I hadn't slept more than 45 minutes to and hour continuously. Again, coughing gasping for air. I called the OB and told them what was going on. It was a day's worth of phone calls but eventually they called in an inhaler and cough syrup, which literally brought me to tears. I thought "this is it, i am going to sleep tonight!" I was wrong. So disappointing.

I kept telling Seth "I am so sick of being sick" and "I just want to stop coughing" But if wishes were fishes right? Then comes Wednesday....a day with both kids... all day. I was incapable still of doing much so the day was really hard. Abby kept asking to go places and she ended up spending a lot of time at war with me. Which drained me of any energy I had. It was exhausting. Thankfully my super friend and visiting teacher brought us dinner this night which was just the thing I needed. I swear it was actually what started my recovery.

Today, Thursday again. Last night I actually slept for two whole hours straight! I was so excited. Abby had "meet the teacher" today and it was a very hard day. Because of my lack of energy and inability to breath it took a great amount of effort to do this. Carrying Briggs around and being in the heat a little wore me down fast. It was all I could do not to pass out. We got home rested a little and Abby watched a movie while Briggs and I napped. Abby had soccer practice tonight and Seth was here to take her (phew) there was no way I was capable of that. Again another lovely friend and visiting teacher brought dinner and saved the day. What would I do without all these people who helped me? I know, probably have died.

We shall see what tomorrow brings. Abby is already asking what we are doing and I doubt it will be much. I am still coughing and it still takes effort to do physical things. But, I can tell I am actually starting to feel human again. I feel bad for poor baby. All the meds I have been taking couldn't be doing her any favors:(

Thanks again to everyone who has helped us out. You know who you are. Much love.
