On August 4th, Seth and I ran in the Buddy Hopkins memorial 5K. It was our first 5K but not our last and we had a great hard sweaty time! I was so excited to do this, I definitely felt accomplished at the end. It was Hot!!! It said the race started at 8 so we got there early. Apparently the kids 1 mile was first so we didn't actually start until closer to nine and by that time we were already sweating and thirsty. Seth was number 238 and I was 239.

The wife of Buddy Hopkins (he was killed in a hit and run while training for a marathon) spoke just before we started and of course I got totally choked up. Then the race started and I couldn't catch my breath or get in a groove. Lets just say it was really hard and its a lot easier running on the treadmill in the AC with a water bottle on hand. It was a good time and I cant wait to do another one.

| Seth waiting for the start |
Seth did great, he kicked my rear out of the gate and then slowed a bit to wait for me. Considering he doesnt run as much as I do I was impressed. I eventually overtook him but he didnt come in too far behind me. My goal was to not be last and to try and do a ten minute mile. We weren't last and our results are as follows...
Lacey: Place 140/320 Time 32:11, its actually better than I thought I did considering it was a little more than 3 miles. Seth: Place 175/320 Time: 34:26 Its also better than Seth thought as well.
